Descriptive Statistics (with group variable)

The procedure produces summary statistics separately for each sub-group defined by the group variable. Group or explanatory variable is categorical variable and could be used to categorize observations on a common property. This procedure is equivalent to running Data → Unstack Column command before the Descriptive Statistics command.

Each row is an observation and
each column is a variable.

Values of the group variable (“Gender”) define
the groups for observations.

How To

Run: Statistics→Basic Statistics→Descriptive Statistics (with group variable)...

Variable – response variable with observations.

Groups – text or numeric variable with group names or indices.

Optionally, you can plot histogram with frequencies and overlay it with a normal curve. Use the Advanced Options panel.

Casewise deletion is used for missing values removal.

More information on results can be found in the Descriptive statistics chapter.
